KELO – gray wooden phone cases & protective cases
tar-treated birch, kelo-like tone | iPhone, Samsung, OnePlus, Pixel, Realme

Kelo does not grow in an instant. And it does not shout. KELO is a gray wooden phone case made from genuine Nordic birch – tar-treated, kelo-like gray, the silence of the northern forest in your hand. The tone deepens with use and every case ages in its own way. Fits iPhone 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, Samsung Galaxy, OnePlus, Google Pixel and Realme models. We support the newest models right after launch – including iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37, and Google Pixel 10a. Add MagSafe or engraving and make the KELO case yours.

If you have been looking for gray phone cases and do not want cold aluminum or matte black plastic, kelo is the third option: gray that was born by standing still. Great for outdoor adventures and hiking too – built for everyday life, weather, and the forest trail.

Material: Tar-treated birch – kelo-like tone

Tone
Kelo
  • Grayish, dry tar treatment – like the surface of northern kelo wood: more weathered and calmer than dark TERWA.
  • Water-resistant natural product – not sticky, does not stain your hands. A dry, smoky scent that fades in weeks but stays in memory.
  • The wood grain shows beneath the grayish surface – every wooden phone case is unique even before anything is engraved on it.

Lastu was born in Finland – in a historic tar-trading town. KELO is a more understated take on that heritage: drier, smokier, calmer. Read Lastu’s 15-year story →

Structure and protection

+ Textured edge profile – the tar surface adds natural grip. Wooden back surface stays firmly in your hand on the trail, in the forest, or in freezing weather.
KELO wooden phone case – textured edge profile keeps your phone firmly in hand even outdoors
+ Raised edge protects the screen – place your phone on the table without the screen touching. In the forest, soft landing pads are not always provided. Drop protection test →
KELO wooden protective case – raised edge protects the phone screen, so the glass does not touch the surface
+ Raised camera frame – the lens does not touch the table, rock, or tree trunk. Camera intact.
KELO kelo wood protective case – raised camera frame protects lenses from scratches and impacts
+ Thin and light. Birch is naturally lighter than most fully plastic phone cases – barely noticeable in your pocket and will not bulk up your backpack pocket.
+ MagSafe compatibility available – wireless charging and magnetic accessories at full power. MagSafe vs regular cases →
+ Engraving or your own image – moose, coordinates, symbol, name. Live preview shows it before you order. Engraving options →

Not from stock. From the Nordics, made to order.

Kelo wood does not rush. Neither does a KELO case.

Every KELO wooden phone case is made to order from genuine Nordic birch in Finland. The grayish tone comes from tar treatment and the wood’s own character – not industrially, not in a hurry. Kelo stands in the forest for decades before it becomes kelo; we do not quite take that long, but we do not rush it either. See how the cases are made in Finland →

Tar Moderate, dry tar treatment – a smoky and calm scent. Not sticky, does not stain your hands. Water-resistant.
MagSafe Available for all phone models. Does MagSafe need a case?
Engraving Symbol, animal figure, coordinates, logo, or name. The grayish tar surface creates a beautiful contrast with the engraved birch.

MagSafe – snap and go

MagSafe compatibility available on the product page. The magnetic ring aligns the charger and add-ons firmly – one snap, no need to look. Works at full power even in the great outdoors, if your battery is running low.

Frequently asked questions

Is KELO really grey or brown?

KELO is a greyish brown, like weathered Finnish deadwood (kelo): silvery grey in daylight, browner in warm light. The grain and tone vary slightly from case to case, because the tar treatment soaks into every piece of birch differently.

Does the colour of KELO change with use?

A little. The tone deepens and the surface smooths in the hand – that's typical wood patina, not wear. The lacquered surface repels water and dirt, so a damp cloth is all you need to clean it.

How does an engraving look on KELO, and can I order a colour image?

Engravings show as a light line on the grey base. The subtle contrast suits initials, coordinates and small symbols especially well. Colour images aren't available on KELO, because the tarred surface doesn't take printing ink evenly.

Is KELO a good gift if I don't know the recipient's phone model?

Each case is cut for a specific model, so you do need it. If you're unsure, check the phone's settings (iPhone: Settings → General → About; Android: Settings → About phone) or ask discreetly. A wrong model can be changed before production starts – email info@lastu.co.

How long does KELO take to arrive?

Your case is made to order in 2–10 days and then takes 2–5 working days to arrive. Free shipping is an untracked letter – choose tracked shipping at checkout if you want a tracking code.

What if the edge comes loose or the wood cracks?

Manufacturing and material defects are covered by a 6-month warranty: send a photo and your order number to info@lastu.co and we make you a new case – no need to return the old one.

Even after the warranty, let us know what happened: you can replace a worn case with a new one at half price.

Customer Reviews

Overall rating: 4.8 / 5 from 937 reviews.

Kuori on hieno, laadukas ja tuntuu hyvältä kädessä. Materiaali toki on sellainen, että alkaa käytön jäljet näkymään. Alkaa haalistumaan niistä kohdista mistä puhelinta useimmiten pitää kiinni.

Customer photo review of KELO – Puhelimen kuoret tervatusta koivusta

Kuvaan luonnon kauneutta ja Lastu sopii siihen mainiosti, puhelimesta saa hyvän otteen eikä luista käsissä, yksi tähti pois koska reunat saisivat olla vähän pehmeämmät. Tyylikäs ja hyvin istuva, kestävyys selviää aikanaan.

KELO – Puhelimen kuoret tervatusta koivusta

Kiinnitys parempi ns. Popsoketissa. Jospa nyt toimisi pidempään eikä menisi käytössä heti väljäksi. Onneksi olette kehitelleet saranaa uudeksi

TERWA – Puhelimen kuoret tervatusta koivusta

HIILI – Puhelimen kuoret mustasta koivusta

Kuoret on erittäin toimivat, napit toimii hyvin, ainut miinus oli että korttikotelo meni vähän kameran eteen, mutta sekin kääntyi positiiviseksi, tekevät uudet kuoret ja entiset saa jäädä varalle. Erittäin hyvää palveluu, laatu tuote. Korttikotelo ja sormipidike tuli kanssa mukaan tilaukseen.

TERWA – Puhelimen kuoret tervatusta koivusta

TERWA – Puhelimen kuoret tervatusta koivusta

HIILI – Puhelimen kuoret mustasta koivusta 🇫🇮

KELO – Puhelimen kuoret tervatusta koivusta

KAAMOS – Puhelimen kuoret aidosta koivusta
