Frequently asked questions

Our phone cases are handcrafted in Northern Finland, made to order — so many questions are about timing, materials, and what you can put on your phone case. Here are the ones we get most often.

If yours isn’t on the list, just ask: customer service will help.

Order, production and delivery

Every Lastu is made to order, so delivery isn’t just picking from stock. These are the questions we get most often.

How long does it take to get the phone case delivered after placing an order?

Production takes 2-10 days, with delivery after that taking 2-5 business days. In total, it’s worth allowing about 1-2 weeks, and a little longer before holidays and new phone model launches.

The phone cases are handcrafted one material at a time: for example, wood phone cases and fabric phone cases are made on different days. You’ll receive an email when your phone case leaves the workshop.

My order hasn’t shipped in 10 days - what should I do?

Email us with your order number at info@lastu.co, and we’ll check what stage your phone case is at. If production hasn’t started yet, you can also cancel your order and get a refund if you’d like.

Why doesn’t free shipping include a tracking code?

Free delivery is by postal letter, delivered straight to your mail slot or mailbox. Letters do not include tracking, so you won’t receive a tracking code. You’ll still get an email when your phone case ships.

If you want tracking, choose tracked delivery at checkout. The tracking code will be sent to your email when the shipment is on its way.

My phone case has been shipped, but the letter hasn’t arrived - what now?

The letter usually arrives in 2-5 business days, a little longer for international deliveries. First, check that the address includes the building and apartment number, and check the mailbox, neighbors, and the building’s mail room.

If the letter has not arrived within 10 business days of the shipping message, contact us at info@lastu.co. We will send a new phone case free of charge.

How much does shipping cost?

Free delivery is by untracked letter. Tracked delivery is paid, and you’ll see the price at checkout before paying. All delivery methods and prices are shown at checkout once the address has been entered.

Do you ship internationally?

In addition to the Nordics, we ship to many European countries. Lastu cases have already reached over 30 countries. Within the EU, free delivery is an untracked letter, and tracked delivery is available at checkout. We do not currently ship to the United States.

Outside the EU, shipments are usually tracked, and the destination country may charge customs duties or taxes. You can see the available countries at checkout.

Can I change or cancel my order?

You can, until production of your phone case begins. Send your order number and the change - the correct phone model, engraving, text, or address - immediately to info@lastu.co. The sooner you act, the more likely we can make it in time.

A canceled order will be refunded to the same payment method, and the Klarna invoice will be voided. Once a personalized phone case has already been made, it can no longer be changed or canceled.

My invoice is due, but my order hasn't arrived yet - what should I do?

You can postpone the due date of your Klarna invoice yourself in the Klarna app or service. If your order has been delayed, let us know and we’ll check the situation.

Is LEKA or an accessory missing from the package - will it arrive separately?

Sometimes an order is shipped in parts, so LEKA, KRIP, or KARB may arrive in a separate envelope. The shipping message will tell you what each batch contains. If a product is missing entirely, let us know at info@lastu.co, and we’ll send it free of charge.

Returns and warranty

In short: let us know before you send it, and everything will go smoothly.

Can I return my order?

Non-personalized products have a 30-day return period from receipt. The product must be unused and in resalable condition. Please notify us of the return first at info@lastu.co and include your order number. Return shipping costs are paid by the customer unless the product is faulty.

The refund will be made to the original payment method no later than 14 days after the return has arrived. Read the return policy.

Can I return a phone case ordered with my own image or logo?

No. Personalized products — Case ordered with your own image, logo, or engraving — are excluded from the right of return under the distance selling exception in consumer protection law, because they are made exclusively for you.

This does not apply to defective products: if the phone case has a manufacturing defect, we’ll make it right regardless of whether it was personalized.

What does the warranty cover?

Manufacturing and material defects are covered by a 6-month warranty from delivery. The warranty covers, for example, the edge or back plate coming loose, the MagSafe ring coming off, the KRIP hinge loosening, and a missing or incorrectly made engraving.

Send a photo and your order number to info@lastu.co, and we’ll make you a new phone case. No need to return the old one. After the warranty period, you can get a replacement for a worn phone case at half price.

What if I received the wrong product or it was damaged in transit?

Send us a message and attach a photo and your order number. Wrong products, manufacturing defects, and shipping damage will be taken care of - no debate.

Materials and quality

What’s really in the phone case and how it’s made.

What are Lastu phone cases made of?

The backplate of the wooden Case is genuine Nordic birch — one layer of real wood. Camouflage-patterned Case are cut from genuine military fabric. Both are surrounded by an impact-absorbing frame that lifts the screen and camera off the surface.

Go deeper: birch material guide and camouflage fabric guide.

Is the wood real or a printed wood pattern?

Real. The grain runs through the surface — it isn’t printed on, and it’s not wood-patterned plastic or film. Each sheet is cut from a different part of a different piece of wood, so no two phone cases are the same. Nor do we try to make them.

Is the surface treatment safe?

The color is infused into the wood using dyeing that meets EN 71 and ASTM standards. It’s the same safety level required for children’s wooden toys. The surface is intentionally matte so the phone case stays in your hand. Sanding, dyeing, and finishing are done by hand in our own workshop in Northern Finland.

Are the camouflage fabrics authentic?

Yes. The fabrics are cut from genuine military fabric, not a printed pattern: M05 forest and snow camo, M04 desert, Ukraine’s MM14, Germany’s Flecktarn, Sweden’s M90, and MultiCam. The pattern placement lands differently on every phone case — no two are alike.

Can the phone case handle everyday bumps?

The frame absorbs impacts and lifts the screen and camera off the surface, so setting it down on a table won’t scratch them. The surface repels water and dirt: rain showers, morning dew, and splashes roll right off. Swimming is a different story - the phone case is water-repellent, not waterproof.

How do I care for a wooden phone case?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry. Do not use solvents or alcohol. Wood ages with use, and that’s part of the charm: unlike clear silicone, it won’t yellow but will darken slightly and become smoother in your hands.

MagSafe and add-ons

Magnetic alignment, wireless charging, and what you can attach to the phone case.

Do Lastu phone cases work with MagSafe?

They work. You can choose MagSafe compatibility in the product page options, which adds the magnetic ring to the phone case structure. After that, the charger, wallet or finger grip snaps into place without glue.

Ready-made options: MagSafe phone cases.

Does my phone need to have MagSafe built in?

No. The magnet is in the phone case, not the phone — that’s why MagSafe-style use also works with Android: Samsung, OnePlus, Pixel, and Realme. See the detailed comparison here.

Does the MagSafe ring cover the engraving or image?

The MagSafe ring sits in the center of the phone case. The ring shown in the preview indicates its exact position, so you can see before ordering whether the engraving overlaps with the ring. Move the image outside the ring or choose a round image inside the ring. MagSafe cannot be added to Velcro phone cases.

Does wireless charging work through the phone case?

Works. The MagSafe option also automatically aligns charging to the right spot, so your phone doesn’t end up a millimeter off the charger.

Will the magnet damage my bank card?

Modern chip and contactless payment cards handle everyday magnets well. Older-style magnetic stripe cards are more sensitive, so it’s best not to keep them directly against a magnet for long periods. Longer answer here.

Can I buy the KRIP ring holder or KARB wallet without a phone case?

Yes. KRIP 2.0 and the KARB card wallet are standalone products. They work directly with iPhone 12 and newer (not 16e). On Android phones, they require a phone case with a MagSafe ring. Remove the accessory during wireless charging.

Your own image, logo, and engraving

Lastu isn’t a ready-made product sitting on a shelf. It’s a platform for creating a phone case that looks like you.

Can I order a phone case with my own image or logo?

You can. Choose your phone model and material, upload an image or logo, and see the result in the real-time preview before ordering. No guesswork — you see what you get.

Design your own phone case →

Is the image engraved or printed in color?

Engraving burns the image into the wood in a single color using the wood’s own tone, from pale yellow to golden brown. It withstands abrasion excellently. Color printing reproduces the colors of a photo, but the print sits on the surface, and with constant pocket friction it may wear over time.

On tar-treated TERWA and KELO phone cases, and on KUKSA, we only do engravings. On KUKSA, the engraving is black, and on the KARB phone case it is a dark burn mark.

What kind of image file should I upload?

PNG, JPG, SVG, and HEIC work. For logos, SVG or a PNG with a transparent background is best. For photos, use a sharp original image, not a screenshot or a version saved from social media. You can remove the background in the preview with one tap.

Very large files, around 15 MB and over, may fail to upload. Reduce the image size or send it to info@lastu.co. You can add up to three images for engraving and five for color printing.

Do you make phone cases for companies, bands, and clubs?

We do. Your logo, emblem, or custom design is printed or engraved on the same birch and fabric as all our other Case. See phone cases with logos for businesses or read our guide to ordering logo phone cases.

Phone models

Each phone case is cut for a specific model, so choosing the right model matters most.

Which phones are Lastu phone cases available for?

From iPhone 13 to the latest models (including iPhone Air, 16e / 17e, and 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max), Samsung Galaxy S23-S26 and A series, OnePlus, Google Pixel 8-11, and Realme. The exact list is in each product’s model selector. New models are usually added soon after release.

I can’t find my model – do you make phone cases for other phones?

If your model isn’t in the menu, we don’t currently make a phone case for it. At the moment, we don’t make phone cases for Motorola, Oppo, Honor, Sony, or Fairphone, for example. We note down all model requests - tell our customer service yours.

I chose the wrong phone model - what should I do?

Send your order number and the correct model right away to info@lastu.co. We’ll change the model if production of the phone case hasn’t started yet. You can find the model in your phone settings: on iPhone, Settings → General → About; on Android, Settings → About phone. Models in the same series, such as S25 and S25 FE, are not compatible with each other.

Does the LEKA screen protector fit all models?

Not for curved-screen models, such as the Galaxy S23 Ultra, OnePlus 12, and Realme 16 Pro+, because a flat protector won’t fit tightly on a curved display. For other models, LEKA is laser-cut to the screen dimensions, and the package includes two protectors. Installation instructions are available on the LEKA page.

Lastu and customer service

Who makes it, where it’s made, and how to reach us.

Who’s behind Lastu?

Lastu was founded in Northern Finland in 2011 — Sakke and Jussi wanted something that feels Nordic instead of a mass-produced plastic phone case. Our phone cases are still designed and made in the same place, at Åström’s old leather factory.

Do you have a store or pickup point?

No. Lastu is an online store and workshop, and all Case are made to order in Northern Finland. The Nahkatehtaankatu address is a postal and visiting address, not a store — so please don’t send returns there unless you’ve agreed it with us first.

Do you sell through resellers?

No. We only sell through our own online store so every phone case can be made individually to order, not for stock. You can find the reasoning here.

Are there loyalty customer benefits?

You can. As a loyal customer, after your first order you get engraving free of charge, after your second an engraving or LEKA screen protector, and after your third MagSafe too. The benefit is applied automatically when you log in with the same email you used for your previous order.

How do I get in touch - and can I speak with a human?

The fastest way is via Facebook Messenger at m.me/lastucase or through the chat on the site. An AI assistant replies there first and handles order questions right away. If the issue isn’t resolved, it will be passed to a customer service agent, who replies to messages from Monday to Thursday and aims to respond within 24 hours.

For official matters, such as returns and complaints, please use email at info@lastu.co. You can find all channels in our contact details.

Didn’t find the answer?

Ask away. Your message will be answered by the same team that handcrafts the Case in Northern Nordic — no question is too small.
