Phone cases with your own engraving
Your image burned into wood
Engraving is a more understated way to personalize your phone case than color printing: the design stays in the wood’s own tone and does not cover the grain. Upload an image or write text, position it in the preview, and order.
How is the engraving made?
You upload an image on the product page, the page automatically converts it into an engraving-ready design, and the laser burns the design directly onto the birch surface. Engraving is not a sticker or a print: it is a mark burned into the wood surface that will not wear off or peel at the edges. The preview shows the design in black, but on the finished phone case it appears as a darker tone in the wood.
Four steps
- Upload an image. The product page automatically converts the image into an engraving-ready design — in practice, a clear monochrome design.
- Place and scale. Move the design where you want it and adjust the size. On mobile, do this with your fingers.
- Read the preview correctly. In the preview, the design appears in black. On the finished phone case, it is burned into the color of the wood, meaning the shade is brown or dark gray depending on the material.
- Add to cart. The phone case is engraved exactly as shown in the preview.
What kind of image works as an engraving?
Engraving is monochrome, so it comes to life through shape, not color. Clear outlines, symbols, text, and line drawings work best. Photos work too, but soft tonal differences become simplified.

Ready-made engraving designs are also available directly in the collection: see ready-made engravings.
Which phone case shows the engraving best?
| Material | Engraving look | Fits here |
|---|---|---|
| LUMI — light birch | Clear brown mark on a light background, highest contrast | Fine lines, text, detailed patterns |
| HIILI — black birch | Lighter mark on a dark background, dramatic | Symbols, logos, large shapes |
| RUSKA - dark red birch | Warm, soft contrast | Names, dates, understated designs |
| KELO and TERWA - tarred birch | Low contrast, the engraving blends into the surface | Subtle personalization |
How engraving is made
The laser follows the outline of the design and burns the mark into the wood surface. The same machine makes both text and images - the only difference is what has been placed in the preview.
Comparison
Engraving or printed image?
Engraving is monochrome and understated. It does not wear off, because the mark is in the wood surface, not on top of it. Suitable for names, symbols, logos, and line drawings.
A printed image is colorful and precise. It reproduces the tones of a photo and also works with multicolor logos. The birch grain shows through beneath the print.
Both are made on the same product page, and you can add the MagSafe feature to either one. Read the full design guide →
Frequently asked questions about engraving
Why is the preview shown in black?
The black preview shows the shape and placement of the design as clearly as possible. On the finished phone case, the engraving is burned into the wood color, so the shade is brown or dark gray depending on the material.
What kind of image is suitable for engraving?
A clear image with recognizable outlines: a symbol, logo, text, line drawing, or high-contrast photo. Soft tonal differences and very thin lines are simplified in engraving.
Does the engraving wear off in use?
It does not wear off. The engraving is burned into the wood surface, so it is not a detachable layer. The phone case’s surface finish protects the mark from normal wear.
Can engraving be done on something other than a wood phone case?
Engraving is done on wood phone cases. Military fabric, carbon fiber look, and design phone cases are personalized with printing. Both options are shown on the product page after selecting the material.
How long does it take to make an engraved phone case?
The product is made to order in 2-10 days and delivered with your chosen shipping method in 2-5 business days.
