HIILI – black wooden phone cases & protective phone cases
made from real charred birch | iPhone, Samsung, OnePlus, Pixel, Realme

The campfire has burned down, but the embers still glow. That color is now in your hand. HIILI is a black wooden phone case made from real Nordic birch – the black goes into the wood, not sprayed on top. No plastic, no printed wood pattern, no same-old black Case that every other person already has. The grain lives under the darkness, so no two protective phone cases are alike – we do not even try. Fits iPhone 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, Samsung Galaxy, OnePlus, Google Pixel and Realme models. Choose MagSafe, engrave a name or add your own image.

Choose your phone model, color, MagSafe compatibility and, if you like, engraving, your own image or logo. The live preview shows your choices before you order. Fits iPhone, Samsung, OnePlus, Google Pixel and Realme phones.

This is a wooden protective phone case for you if you want a black case without that mass-produced feel. Made to order in the Nordics – not pulled from a shelf.

Material: real birch, multiple shades

Charcoal

Horsma
  • Charcoal – fully charcoal-black birch with the wood grain visible. A unique black wooden phone case.
  • Snow – a light wooden phone case made from natural birch. Clean, calm and real.
  • Horsma – deep magenta birch with the wood’s natural structure left visible.

Birch feels different in your hand than plastic: warm, light, a little like the spine of a hardcover book. Every wooden protective phone case is its own piece – the grain is the wood’s fingerprint.

Structure and protection

+ Textured edge profile – birch knows how to hold on. The wooden protective phone case stays in your grip even with gloves on, and does not slide off the table like glossy plastic.
The textured edge profile of the Hiilikoivu protective case gives a secure grip – the black wooden phone case stays firmly in your hand
+ Raised edge protects the screen – you can place the phone face down without the screen touching the surface. Read more about protection →
The Hiilikoivu case has a raised edge that protects the phone screen – the glass does not touch the table
+ Raised camera frame – the lens does not touch the table. The camera is better protected from everyday scratches and knocks.
The raised camera frame of the Hiilikoivu wooden protective case protects the lenses from scratches
+ Slim and lightweight build – birch does not bulk up your phone in your pocket, but in the hand it feels on a whole other level than a plastic case.
+ MagSafe compatibility available – wireless charging, magnetic mounts, finger grips and wallets work firmly when you choose the MagSafe version.
+ Laser engraving, your own image or logo – a name, initials, company logo, symbol or your own image. The live preview shows the result before you order. See the design guide →

Not from stock. From the Nordics, made to order.

Black birch. Not black plastic.

Every Hiilikoivu protective case is made to order from Nordic birch. Lastu’s own coloring process takes the black deep into the wood, while leaving the grain visible – that is why the case is black in a different way every time. This is a protective phone case that looks black but feels like wood. People usually notice the difference right around the moment someone asks to hold it. See how the Case are made in the Nordics →

Surface Fully charcoal-black thanks to Lastu’s own coloring process. The grain remains visible under the black – in the light it appears, in dim light it disappears. Every black wooden protective case is one of a kind.
Finish Light, non-toxic, water- and dirt-repellent finish. The wood feel stays – not slippery, not cold, not the fingerprint magnet black Case usually are.
MagSafe Available on the product page for several phone models. Does MagSafe need a case?
Engraving Engraving reveals the light shade of birch beneath the black – like scratching away ash. A name, logo, coordinates or symbol stands out in bright contrast.

MagSafe – optional, but addictive

MagSafe compatibility can be selected directly on the product page. The magnetic ring aligns the charger and add-ons firmly – “click” and off you go. Perfect for everyday use, the car, your desk and MagSafe accessories.

Screen protector · LEKA

Black birch protects the back. LEKA protects the glass.

HIILI carries the darkness of a charred forest on the back of your phone – but the screen is the surface you look at thousands of times a day. Finish the protection with a LEKA screen protector: a laser-cut protective film that feels like glass but lasts better than traditional tempered glass.

  • +Precision-fit screen protector – a laser-cut protective film made exactly for your phone model (iPhone, Samsung, OnePlus, Pixel). Not a ready-made shelf product, but made to order for you.
  • +Nano PET, not tempered glass – flexes and does not crack during installation like tempered glass. No scratches, no yellowing, full touch accuracy.
  • +2 pcs / €14.90 – two screen protection films for the price of one tempered glass protector. Keep the second as a spare.

Frequently asked questions

Does an engraving show up on the black HIILI case?

Yes – even more clearly than on light wood. The laser burns away the black surface and reveals the pale, golden tone of the birch, so names, logos or coordinates stand out in sharp contrast.

For logos and text, the Line drawing or Outline style works best. In the Photo style the finest details soften.

Will the black colour wear off or fade?

The black is absorbed into the birch, not painted on, so it doesn't chip like painted plastic. Corners and edges may polish slightly in the hand over time – that's part of real wood.

Manufacturing and material defects are covered by a 6-month warranty: send a photo and your order number to info@lastu.co and we make you a new case – no need to return the old one.

Does the MagSafe ring cover my engraving or photo?

The MagSafe ring sits in the centre of the case. The ring shown in the live preview marks its exact position, so you can see before ordering whether your engraving overlaps it.

To keep an image fully visible, move it outside the ring or choose a round image inside it.

Can I engrave several images or texts on one case?

Yes. You can add up to three of your own images or logos and up to eight texts, and move, scale and rotate each one separately in the preview. Your own image engraved costs +€5 once, regardless of how many images you add.

Will my HIILI case arrive before my new phone?

Your case is made to order in 2–10 days and then takes 2–5 working days to arrive. Free shipping is an untracked letter – choose tracked shipping at checkout if you want a tracking code.

Order as soon as you know your phone model – we can make the case before the phone is in your hands.

How do I change my order if I picked the wrong model or engraving?

Email info@lastu.co with your order number as soon as possible. Model, engraving and address can be changed until production of your case has started.

What our customers say

Customer Reviews

Overall rating: 4.8 / 5 from 937 reviews.

Kuori on hieno, laadukas ja tuntuu hyvältä kädessä. Materiaali toki on sellainen, että alkaa käytön jäljet näkymään. Alkaa haalistumaan niistä kohdista mistä puhelinta useimmiten pitää kiinni.

Customer photo review of KELO – Puhelimen kuoret tervatusta koivusta

Kuvaan luonnon kauneutta ja Lastu sopii siihen mainiosti, puhelimesta saa hyvän otteen eikä luista käsissä, yksi tähti pois koska reunat saisivat olla vähän pehmeämmät. Tyylikäs ja hyvin istuva, kestävyys selviää aikanaan.

KELO – Puhelimen kuoret tervatusta koivusta

Kiinnitys parempi ns. Popsoketissa. Jospa nyt toimisi pidempään eikä menisi käytössä heti väljäksi. Onneksi olette kehitelleet saranaa uudeksi

TERWA – Puhelimen kuoret tervatusta koivusta

Teppo V. 5/5 Verified

HIILI – Puhelimen kuoret mustasta koivusta

Kuoret on erittäin toimivat, napit toimii hyvin, ainut miinus oli että korttikotelo meni vähän kameran eteen, mutta sekin kääntyi positiiviseksi, tekevät uudet kuoret ja entiset saa jäädä varalle. Erittäin hyvää palveluu, laatu tuote. Korttikotelo ja sormipidike tuli kanssa mukaan tilaukseen.

Jouko S. 5/5 Verified

TERWA – Puhelimen kuoret tervatusta koivusta

Mikko K. 4/5 Verified

TERWA – Puhelimen kuoret tervatusta koivusta

HIILI – Puhelimen kuoret mustasta koivusta 🇫🇮

Jukka H. 5/5 Verified

KELO – Puhelimen kuoret tervatusta koivusta

KAAMOS – Puhelimen kuoret aidosta koivusta
