iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra — rumors, specs, and Cases
According to rumors, Apple will introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September 2026, alongside Apple’s first foldable phone, which leaks are calling the iPhone Ultra. We’ve gathered everything known about the new Pro models here — and answer right at the top the question most searched on Google and AI search: do iPhone 17 Pro Cases fit the iPhone 18 Pro?
Updated 10 Aug 2026. This article is based on public rumors and leaks — Apple has not confirmed any of the information below, and the render images in this article are not official Apple images. We’ll update the page right after the launch.
Do iPhone 17 Pro Cases fit the iPhone 18 Pro?
In Lastu’s range, yes. Lastu’s iPhone 18 Pro Cases have the same dimensions and design as the iPhone 17 Pro Cases, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max Cases are the same as the iPhone 17 Pro Max Cases. Same frame, same MagSafe magnetic ring, same materials — and the same case fits both generations.
The reason is simple: according to rumors, Apple is keeping the iPhone 18 Pro’s outer dimensions and display sizes (6.3" and 6.9") practically unchanged. We can’t speak for other manufacturers’ cases, and since this is still based on rumors, we will verify the official dimensions at launch before a single case is cut. Every Lastu Case is made to order, so any possible millimeter-level fine-tuning can always be done before production.
When will the iPhone 18 Pro be released?
According to rumors, Apple will hold its launch event in the first half of September 2026, with the devices going on sale in the second half of the same month. Three devices are expected at the launch: iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the foldable iPhone Ultra.
The big change is in the release rhythm: according to rumors, the standard iPhone 18 model will not arrive in the fall at all, but will move to spring 2027. Apple is reportedly moving to two launch windows per year — Pro models in the fall, more affordable models in the spring. If you’re waiting for the standard model, the Case side will follow its own schedule; for now, the latest standard models can be found in iPhone 17 Cases and iPhone Air Cases.
iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max — what’s coming
This year’s leaks are unusually aligned on one thing: the look stays familiar. According to rumors, the iPhone 18 Pro will look practically identical to the iPhone 17 Pro — the changes are on the inside and in the details.
- Displays: 6.3" (18 Pro) and 6.9" (18 Pro Max) — unchanged. New LTPO+ technology reduces power consumption.
- Dynamic Island gets smaller: its width would drop from around 20.8 mm to 13.5 mm — about 35%. Face ID components are being moved under the display.
- A20 Pro chip: TSMC’s first-generation 2 nm process and new WMCM packaging. Rumors suggest around 15% better performance and up to 30% better energy efficiency compared with the A19 Pro.
- C2 modem: Apple’s own third-generation modem in most markets. 5G satellite connectivity is also rumored.
- N2 chip: Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.
- Camera: a variable aperture for the 48 MP main camera, a brighter telephoto lens, and an improved front camera.
- Battery: 18 Pro around 4,288 mAh and 18 Pro Max around 5,567 mAh — nearly 10% more capacity for the Pro Max.
- Colors: new dark cherry red (Dark Cherry), plus light blue, dark gray, and silver.
- Back glass: updated Ceramic Shield, frostier and more seamless-looking with the frame.
- Camera Control: simplified to a press-only button — touch gestures and haptic feedback would be removed.
- Price: rumors point to a $200–300 increase due to manufacturing costs.
iPhone 17 Pro vs. iPhone 18 Pro — what’s actually changing?
The iPhone 17 Pro figures are Apple’s official numbers. The iPhone 18 Pro column is based on rumors.
| Feature | iPhone 17 Pro / Pro Max | iPhone 18 Pro / Pro Max (rumor) |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 6,3" / 6,9" | 6.3" / 6.9" — unchanged |
| Dimensions | 150 × 71.9 × 8.75 mm / 163.4 × 78.0 × 8.75 mm | Practically the same; thickness possibly 8.8–9.0 mm |
| Weight | 206 g / 233 g | Possibly up to 10 g more |
| Camera plateau | Current plateau design | Approx. 2 mm thicker, lenses sit higher |
| Dynamic Island | Approx. 20.8 mm wide | Approx. 13.5 mm — about 35% narrower |
| Chip | A19 Pro (3 nm) | A20 Pro (2 nm), approx. +15% performance |
| MagSafe | Yes | Yes — the magnetic ring stays the same |
| Lastu phone case | Same phone case for both generations | Same phone case for both generations |
The most important row in the table for phone cases is the camera plateau. If the plateau really becomes about two millimeters thicker, it won’t change the case’s outer dimensions — but it may affect how much the edge of the camera cutout needs to be widened. That’s exactly the detail Lastu will verify at launch.
iPhone Ultra — Apple’s first foldable
The name iPhone Ultra has caused plenty of confusion, and for good reason. In the leaks, it doesn’t mean “an even bigger Pro Max” but Apple’s first foldable phone: a book-style folding device positioned above the Pro Max in both price and lineup. Rumors mention vapor chamber cooling and an A20-series chip — sources disagree on whether Ultra will get the A20 or A20 Pro.
Some leaks have also suggested that Apple could rename the Pro Max as Ultra. Right now, the more credible interpretation is that Pro Max will keep its name and Ultra will be a separate foldable model. We’ll know in September.
On the case side, the foldable device is a whole story of its own: its structure doesn’t match any current iPhone. The first iPhone 18 Ultra collection is already live — dimensions will be finalized as soon as Apple releases the device’s official specifications.
Compatibility
Will an iPhone 17 Pro phone case fit the iPhone 18 Pro? The long answer
This is the question that comes up every year — and this year the answer is unusually clear. Case compatibility comes down to four things: outer dimensions, button placement, the size and position of the camera cutout, and the diameter of the MagSafe magnetic ring.
- 1. Outer dimensions: rumored to remain unchanged. Display sizes stay at 6.3 and 6.9 inches, and the thickness would change by at most a few hundredths of a millimeter. For a silicone or wood phone case, that’s a non-issue.
- 2. Buttons: the Action button and Camera Control stay in the same places. Camera Control will be simplified, but its physical position is not expected to change according to rumors.
- 3. Camera opening: this is the only real uncertainty. The camera bump is said to get about 2 mm thicker, with the lenses sitting higher. It won’t affect the outer dimensions, but phone cases with a tight opening may need a small edge adjustment.
- 4. MagSafe: the magnetic ring diameter has been the same since iPhone 12, and there are no rumors of it changing. MagSafe accessories will therefore work just like before.
What kind of phone case for the new iPhone 18 Pro?
The new Pro is glass and aluminum — beautiful, but slippery and pricey. Lastu makes iPhone Case from materials with character that only get better with use. Handmade in the Nordics since 2011.
Wood is Lastu’s original material, and no two phone cases are identical. The most popular are LUMIKOIVU, tar-treated TETERWA, dark HIILIKOIVU, and red RUSKA. Wood is also a natural high-friction material — a glass-backed iPhone won’t slip out of your hand the same way it can in a plastic Case.
Looking for something else? The M05 phone case is made from genuine Nordic camouflage fabric, Flecktarn from German fabric, and KARB brings the carbon fiber look. The KARTTA phone case can feature a map of your hometown, and the SANAT phone case your own text. The RATIA × Lastu collection brings a Nordic design classic, and the limited-edition models disappear once they’re made.
MagSafe in iPhone 18 Pro — the magnetic ring stays the same
The dimensions of the MagSafe magnetic ring have stayed the same since iPhone 12, and there are no rumors about the iPhone 18 Pro suggesting a change. That means all current charging pads, car mounts, wallets, and grips will also work with the new Pro.
In Lastu’s MagSafe Case, the magnetic ring is embedded directly into the material — it doesn’t significantly increase the thickness of the phone case and isn’t visible from the outside. MagSafe is available as an add-on option at checkout for almost the entire collection.
The most popular add-ons are the KRIP 2.0 finger grip and stand and the KARB card wallet. You can find the full selection in MagSafe add-ons.
If MagSafe is new to you, read the basics in the article what is MagSafe, the comparison MagSafe Case vs. regular Case, and the FAQ does the MagSafe magnet damage bank cards. Technical background is also available on the page information about the MagSafe feature.
The Case protects the body — the screen needs its own protection
If the camera bump really does get bigger, protecting the cameras becomes even more important. The edges of the Lastu phone case rise above both the screen and the camera lenses, so your phone doesn’t rest on the table directly on the lens. More on this in the article drop protection and thickness.
For the screen side, our solution is the LEKA screen protector: a flexible nano-PET film cut to fit your phone’s dimensions, and it won’t crack like tempered glass. The pack includes two pieces. You’ll find the comparison and installation instructions in the guide screen protector or tempered glass and on the page about LEKA protectors.
And if your old Case has seen better days but you’re not switching phones just yet: Lastu’s maintenance and upgrade service restores the Case or upgrades it with MagSafe. Read more about the maintenance service.
Your iPhone 18 Pro — no one else’s
A new Pro is just like a million other new Pros — until you wrap it in something no one else has. With Lastu’s customization tool, you can add your own photo, logo, monogram, or engraving to the Case, and see a live preview before ordering.
Practical tips can be found in the guide how to design your own phone case, and the full collection is gathered on the page phone cases with your own image.
For companies, bands, and clubs, we also make phone cases with a logo in batch orders — engraving on wood, printing on fabric or leather.
