Frequently Asked Questions
Our phone cases are handmade in Northern Finland, made to order — so many questions are about timing, materials, and what you can put on the case. We’ve gathered the ones we hear most often here.
If yours isn’t listed, just ask: customer service will help.
Order, production, and delivery
Every Lastu is made to order. That’s why delivery isn’t just picking it from a shelf.
How long does it take to make my order?
Production takes 2–10 days, followed by delivery in 2–5 business days. Standard models are at the lower end of the range, while personalized Case and rarer phone models are at the higher end.
You’ll receive a tracking code by email as soon as your package leaves the workshop.
How much does delivery cost?
You’ll see the delivery methods and their prices at checkout before payment. Free delivery is available — the threshold is shown in the cart when you add products.
Do you ship internationally?
We deliver. Lastu phone cases have already shipped to over 30 countries — Sweden, Germany, Denmark, the United States, and even farther. You’ll see the available delivery countries and methods at checkout.
How do I track my order?
You’ll receive a tracking code by email as soon as your package ships. If the tracking hasn’t updated for several days or the estimated delivery time has passed, send us a message — we’ll sort it out with the postal service for you.
Can I change or cancel my order afterwards?
Contact us as soon as possible. Production starts quickly, and once the phone case has been processed, stained, or printed, it can no longer be changed. The sooner you get in touch, the more likely we can make it happen.
Returns and Warranty
In short: let us know before you send it, and everything will go smoothly.
Can I return my order?
Our products come with a 14-day return policy. Contact customer service before sending the package back — this ensures your return is registered correctly and your refund starts moving as soon as the package arrives. Without advance notice, the return may end up sitting around unidentified.
Can I return a phone case ordered with my own image or logo?
No. Personalized products — phone cases ordered with your own image, logo, or engraving — are excluded from the right of return under the distance selling exception in consumer protection law, because they are made exclusively for you.
This does not apply to defective products: if the phone case has a manufacturing defect, we’ll make it right regardless of whether it was personalized.
What if the product is defective or was damaged in transit?
Send us a message and include a photo and your order number. We’ll sort out manufacturing defects and shipping damage — no debate.
Materials and Quality
What’s really in the phone case and how it’s made.
What are Lastu phone cases made of?
The back plate of the wooden Case is made from genuine Nordic birch — one layer of real wood. The camouflage-patterned phone cases are cut from authentic military fabric. Both are surrounded by a shock-absorbing frame that lifts the screen and camera off surfaces.
Go deeper: birch material guide and camouflage fabric guide.
Is the wood real or a printed wood pattern?
Real. The grain pattern runs through the surface — it’s not printed on top, and it’s not wood-patterned plastic or film. Each sheet is cut from a different part of a different piece of wood, so no two phone cases are alike. And we’re not trying to make them that way.
Is the surface treatment safe?
The colour is absorbed into the wood using a dyeing process that meets EN 71 and ASTM standards. It’s the same safety level required for children’s wooden toys. The surface is intentionally matte so the phone case stays secure in your hand. Sanding, dyeing and finishing are done by hand in our own workshop in Northern Finland.
Are the camouflage fabrics genuine?
They are. The fabrics are cut from genuine military fabric, not a printed pattern: M05 woodland and snow camo, M04 desert, Ukrainian MM14, German Flecktarn, Swedish M90, and MultiCam. The pattern lands in a different spot on every phone case — no two are alike.
Can the phone case handle everyday knocks?
The frame absorbs shocks and lifts the screen and camera off the surface, so placing it on a table won’t scratch them. The surface repels water and dirt: rain showers, morning dew, and splashes roll right off. Swimming is another matter — the phone case is water-repellent, not waterproof.
How do I care for a wooden phone case?
Wipe with a damp cloth. Do not use solvents. Wood ages with use, and that’s the point — unlike clear silicone, it doesn’t yellow, it darkens.
If your phone case has been through a lot or you’re switching phones, ask about our maintenance and upgrade service — it’s worth restoring an old phone case before throwing it away.
MagSafe and Accessories
Magnetic alignment, wireless charging, and what you can attach to the phone case.
Do Lastu phone cases work with MagSafe?
They work. You can select MagSafe compatibility from the options on the product page, and the magnetic ring will be built into the phone case. After that, a charger, wallet, or finger grip snaps into place without glue.
Ready-made options: MagSafe phone cases.
Does my phone need to have MagSafe built in?
No. The magnet is in the phone case, not in the phone — so MagSafe-style use also works with Android: Samsung, OnePlus, Pixel, and Nothing. See the detailed comparison here.
Does wireless charging work through the phone case?
Yes. The MagSafe option also automatically aligns charging to the right spot, so your phone won’t sit a millimeter off the charger.
Will the magnet damage my bank card?
Modern chip and contactless payment cards handle everyday magnets well. Old-style magnetic stripe cards are more sensitive, so it’s best not to keep them directly against a magnet for long periods. Longer answer here.
Your image, logo, and engraving
Lastu isn’t a ready-made product sitting on a shelf. It’s a platform for creating a phone case that looks like you.
Can I order a phone case with my own photo or logo?
Yes. Choose your phone model and material, upload an image or logo, and see the result in the real-time preview before ordering. No guesswork — you see what you get.
What kind of image should I send?
The sharpest and largest original file possible. A screenshot grabbed from a screen or an image compressed for social media will look soft when printed because there aren’t enough pixels.
If the image is borderline, send it to us in advance for review. We’ll tell you straight whether it’s worth it.
Do you make phone cases for companies, bands, and clubs?
We do. Your logo, badge, or custom design is printed or engraved on the same birch and fabric as all our other Case. See phone cases for businesses with a logo or read our guide to ordering logo phone cases.
Lastu and customer service
Who makes it, where it’s made, and how to reach us.
Who’s behind Lastu?
Lastu was founded in Northern Finland in 2011 — Sakke and Jussi wanted something beyond a mass-produced plastic phone case, something with a Nordic feel. The cases are still designed and made in the same place, in Åström’s old leather factory.
Do you have a store or pickup point?
No. Lastu is an online store and workshop, and every case is made to order in Northern Finland. The Nahkatehtaankatu address is our postal and registered address, not a store — so please don’t send returns there unless you’ve agreed it with us first.
Do you sell through resellers?
No. We only sell through our own online store so each phone case can be custom-made to order, not for stock. You’ll find the reasons here.
How can I contact you?
Fastest via Facebook Messenger at m.me/lastucase. For official matters, such as returns and complaints, please use email at info@lastu.co.
You’ll find all channels, response times, and company details in our contact information.
