Lastu has made MacBook covers since 2011 — first in Nordic countries. After several years away, these much-requested products are finally back, renewed and improved. KANSI fits all current MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models.

Authentic material
Every KANSI is made from real materials — birch veneer, carbon fiber, or M05 fabric. No laminate, no PVC. Wood lives, breathes, and develops its own patina. Your MacBook ends up looking truly unique — because it is.
Protects from scratches
The MacBook’s aluminum body scratches easily. KANSI covers the entire flat surface of the back cover and protects it from everyday bumps, sliding across tables, and rubbing in your bag — invisibly, without added bulk.
Easy to install — easy to remove
KANSI attaches with 3M adhesive to the flat back cover. Installation takes under a minute. When you want to remove it, it comes off cleanly and leaves no marks on the cover. No risk. No permanence against your will.
Water-repellent treatment
All KANSI materials are treated to be water-repellent — including wood. Coffee splashes and light moisture won’t damage the surface. Non-toxic treatment, safe to use.
Personalize with your own engraving
For an additional +5 €, you can add laser engraving: your logo, image, text, or a selection from Lastu’s ready-made illustration collection. Engravings are cut with laser precision directly into the material you choose.

History
Lastu started making MacBook covers in 2011 — the first company in Finland to do so. Back then, every cover was sanded and finished by hand from birch veneer. The products built a loyal fan base, but the collection was gradually phased out in favor of phone cases.
Over the years, the requests never stopped. Now KANSI is back — with a wider model range, better materials, and built for new MacBook generations. Same attitude. Same craftsmanship. Made in Nordic.

KANSI covers the entire flat surface of the back cover. The curved edges of the cover (~2 mm) are intentionally left unprotected so the adhesive stays in place and does not peel off.

Materials & protection
Lastu's phone cases are mainly made from genuine Nordic birch, finished in Oulu in several shades:
Hiili, Lumi, Rosa and natural birch.
Each phone case has a unique surface pattern – the birch grain lives and changes with the light, so you won't find two identical pieces.
We also offer special editions using genuine military-grade fabrics, such as
M05, M90, Flecktarn and MM14.
These cases feel more technical and deliver top-tier abrasion resistance.
Frame & fit
A flexible, shock-absorbing TPU frame combines with the chosen surface material to make the case light yet snug.
1 mm raised lip helps keep the camera and screen off the table during everyday bumps.

- Orders ship from our Oulu workshop within 1–5 business days; estimated delivery times: Nordic countries 1–5 days, EU 3–10 days, rest of the world 5–14 days.
- Shipments outside the EU are sent via EMS, including tracking and customs paperwork.

A MAGNET THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING
MagSafe is a magnetic mounting system based on a magnetic ring installed inside the phone case. Accessories attach precisely, securely, and without compromises.
What is MagSafe used for?
MagSafe accessories do not work without a MagSafe magnet. Even if the phone model is the same, the accessory won’t stick if the phone case doesn’t have MagSafe.
Does MagSafe only work on iPhone?
No. Lastu MagSafe also works with other brands.
The phone brand is not what matters. What matters is that the phone case includes a properly placed magnet. Lastu adds MagSafe to any phone case.

Compatibility note
On certain Samsung, OnePlus, and Nothing models, the magnet is placed slightly lower because of the camera size. Accessories work normally, but wireless MagSafe charging may not work.
This does not apply to iPhone or Google Pixel models.

Strong attachment in Lastu cases
KARB works especially well with Lastu’s MagSafe-compatible phone cases. In Lastu’s cases, the MagSafe magnet sits right at the surface of the case — not buried inside the structure. This improves grip and makes the attachment more secure compared with many other MagSafe solutions.
The wallet stays in place in everyday use, but it’s easy to remove when you want to use your phone without extras. Wireless charging works when the wallet is removed.
Freedom to switch as needed
Unlike fixed adhesive card pockets, KARB does not lock your phone into one way of using it.
Correct removal
