Four new engravings for wooden phone cases
Four new designs joined the engraving collection this week: By the campfire, Lion coat of arms, Terrain contour, and Reindeer antlers. All engravings in the collection are still free with every Lastu wooden phone case. Plus, map engraving can now be added to a wooden phone case for an extra €5.
How much does engraving cost?
- Engraving from the collection: €0. All ready-made designs, including the new ones, are included with a wooden phone case at no extra cost.
- Map engraving: +€5. Your own map engraved on any Lastu wooden phone case.
- Text engraving: +€3. A name, initials, date, or short phrase in addition to or instead of the design.

All four designs are drawn with the wood in mind: the lines are strong enough to stand out from the birch grain and fine enough for the result to look handcrafted, not like a sticker. Everything is placed so that the MagSafe magnet and accessories work normally.

The Finnish coat of arms lion in a round medallion framed by stars. More festive and detailed than the earlier Finland lion.
🗺️ Terrain contour
Dense contour lines that fill the entire back of the phone case. Stands out best on black HIILI birch, where the engraving reveals the light wood underneath.
🦌 Reindeer antlers
Symmetrical reindeer antlers in the center of the phone case, a clean and calm design. Works best in warm brown tones.
Contour lines in black birch
Contour Lines is the most graphic of the new designs. In the image, it’s on a HIILI phone case straight from the workshop: the laser burns through the black surface, and the pale birch beneath draws the lines like a golden pen.
The design wraps around the MagSafe ring, so the KRIP finger grip and KARB card wallet attach normally.

Map engraving now for an extra €5
Lastu’s MAP phone cases have been one of our most popular personalizations: your own place engraved into wood. Now you can add a map engraving to any Lastu wooden phone case for an extra €5. That means you can pair the map with the wood type you like, such as black HIILI birch, dark red RUSKA, or blue KAAMOS.
A place with meaning makes a great map: your hometown, a lake by your cabin, the fell you visited for the first time, or the neighborhood where you met. The engraving is burned into the wood surface just like our other designs, so it won’t wear off.
How is engraving on wood done?
The engraving is done with a laser directly onto the birch surface. The design is not a sticker, print, or an added layer on top, but a mark burned into the wood. That’s why it won’t fade, flake, or wear off in your pocket. Every phone case is engraved to order in the Nordics.
The wood type makes a big difference. The same design looks completely different on different wood:

Engraving on genuine Nordic birch
The back of every Lastu wooden phone case is made from genuine Nordic birch. We stain and finish the wood ourselves using non-toxic methods, so the grain stays visible and every phone case is a little different. Engraving highlights it: the laser mark follows the wood grain, and no two phone cases are exactly alike.

Engraved phone case in five steps
- 1. Choose your phone model and open a wooden phone case, e.g. HIILI or TERWA.
- 2. Choose the wood shade and MagSafe if you like.
- 3. Browse engravings by scrolling sideways and choose a design (free) or map engraving (+5 €).
- 4. Add text engraving (+3 €) if you want a name or date.
- 5. Check the preview and add to cart. The case is made to order in Finland.

Frequently asked questions about engravings
Does engraving from the collection cost extra?
No. All engraving collection designs, including the new Tulilla, Leijonavaakuna, Maastokäyrä, and Poronsarvet, are free on every Lastu wooden case.
How much does map engraving cost?
Map engraving costs €5 on top of the wooden case price, and you can choose it for any Lastu wooden case.
Will the engraving wear off in use?
It won’t wear off. The engraving is laser-burned into the wood surface, so it is part of the case, not a layer that can peel away.
Does MagSafe work with an engraved case?
It works. The magnet is inside the case, and the designs are made so wireless charging, the KRIP finger grip, and the KARB wallet work normally.
Can I add my own text to the design?
Yes. Text engraving (+€3) can be added alongside a collection design, such as a name, initials, or date.
