The story of Lastu – 14 years of Finnish creativity and phone cases inspired by nature

In 2011, two friends from Oulu, Sakke and Jussi, wondered if traditional plastic phone Case could be replaced with something more authentic and meaningful. They believed that phone cases could be made from Finnish natural materials – such as wood and leather – bringing a piece of northern nature into the world of technology. This is how Lastu was born, a brand that began producing domestic wooden phone covers. Fourteen years later, Lastu has grown from a small idea into an internationally recognized name, and Lastu's phone cases have already found their way to over 30 countries.

2011 – The story of Lastu begins

In 2011, Lastu was officially founded, and the first products went on sale. From the very beginning, the Case were made from Finnish wood, and each one was unique – like a piece of Finnish forest in your pocket. The founders of Lastu remained committed to domestic production and quality, which created a strong foundation for the years to come.

2014–2016 – The first recognitions

In 2014, Lastu was awarded the Design Act of the Year award, and in 2016 Sakari was chosen as Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Finland. These honors brought more visibility to Lastu and strengthened confidence in their own work.

2018 – The world's first M05 camouflage covers

In 2018, Lastu made history by launching the world's first M05 camouflage phone cases, based on the official pattern of the Defence Forces. This bold move demonstrated that Lastu is also a pioneer in the use of materials.

2019 – Color printing and personalization

In 2019, Lastu took a big step towards customer-specific design: color image printing made it possible to add your own photos or logos to the cases. Now customers could design completely personalized phone Case that combined individuality and Finnish quality.

2020 – Collaborations and Internationalization

In the 2020s, Lastu formed important partnerships. Collaboration with the domestic design brand RATIA brought to market over 20,000 models sold. In the same year, a charity partnership also began with the Your Finnish Friends organization. Today, Lastu delivers phone cases to over 30 countries, including Finland, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, and the United States.

2022 – Digital leap and real-time preview

In 2022, Lastu revamped the customer experience in its online store. With the new design tool, customers can see a real-time, live preview of the case they have designed. This seamlessly combines Finnish craftsmanship and modern technology.

A look to the future

The development of high-quality and domestic cases continues strong. Lastu quickly brings new models to the market and boldly experiments with new materials and designs. Although there have been imitators along the way, only the genuine Lastu case offers the original quality and idea. Nature-oriented values and responsibility remain at the core of everything, now and in the future.
